In vivo microscopy
Recently, MLL acquired a multi-photon microscope, one out of three systems in Germany approved for clinical investigations in dermatology.
It allows auto fluorescence and second harmonic excitation and analysis of tissue in vitro and in vivo with highest accuracy.

Current example:
2-photon microscopic picture of the pig eye conjunctiva.
Left: superficial epithelium.
Right: epithelium cone with collagen fibril.
Clearly strong and weak fluorescent cells can be differentiated. By the choice of the different wavelengths individual tissue components up to high depths can be differentiated. Reconstructed admission green: 750 nm (auto fluorescence), blue 834 nm (Second Harmonic Generation).
